PET bottle! PET bottle! Recycle! Recycle!

Japan avant aficionados may already know that in Atsushi Tsuyama & Tastuya Yoshida (AKA Akaten)’s world, recycling PET bottles means not crushing those once-only consumer flings down to pure bastard hardness and using them as ballast in a new road to the top of Mount Nowhere but playing them in this little symphony of wind and percussion. From the sublime album of oddball improvisation Chateau du Akaten (Magaibutsu, 2001).

    I was hoping they’d use their pants’ zippers. I guess musicians don’t get workers’ compensation, so a little too dangerous.
